Talented and Gifted Program
Prince Edward County Gifted Plan 2011-2012
   PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY SCHOOLS

Gifted and talented students 2-12 possess characteristics and concomitant needs that diverge from the norm to the extent that they require educational modification to accommodate their needs. These students exist within all ethnicities and socioeconomic groups. Prince Edward County Schools strives to identify and serve all gifted and talented students.  This type of education experience will help these students utilize their gifts and talents to become more effective and productive members of society.

Anyone may refer a student to the TAG program. This includes parents, students, teachers and other staff. A referral packet will be available at each school. This packet will be completed by the parent and school and sent to the Assistant Director of Exceptional Programs.

Upon receipt of this packet, the coordinator will set up testing. After the testing, a blind eligibility meeting is held to determine whether a student meets the criteria for gifted and talented services. The parents and school are then notified of the committee’s decision.
