On February 26th, several students at the high school participated in the Y Street training. Y Street is a youth led volunteer initiative for high school students. They were trained as youth activists to help prevent tobacco use and promote healthy lifestyles within their community, across Virginia. They will be participating in 2 campaigns throughout the year: Share the Air and Rev Your Bev.
'Share the Air' is committed to creating 100% tobacco-free and e-cigarette free public outdoor space and 'Rev Your Bev' aims to improve health by increasing access to water in schools and promoting water as the #1 beverage to drink.
During the highly engaging training session, students learned how to stage their table set ups and collect peer surveys. They also learned about ways to get involved at the local and state level and potentially attend state-wide youth summits and become future trainers.
