Dear Prince Edward County Public Schools Community,

It is with great excitement that I announce three important leadership selections, effective July 1, 2025, as we continue to strengthen our commitment to excellence in education.

Ms. Jessica S. Tibbs – Principal, Prince Edward County High School

Ms. Jessica S. Tibbs has been selected as the next Principal of Prince Edward County High School. A proud Farmville resident and parent of children in our division, Ms. Tibbs currently serves as the Student Success Coordinator and Assistant Principal for Appomattox County Public Schools. In this role, she has overseen key areas such as student discipline, credentialing, assessments, teacher evaluations, and the child study process.

Ms. Tibbs is no stranger to Prince Edward. She served our district for 18 years as both a Business Information Technology Teacher and an Assistant Principal at PECHS. Her deep understanding of our students, families, and school culture, paired with her expanded leadership experience, makes her exceptionally qualified to guide our high school forward. We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Tibbs back home to PECHS!

Mr. Jason Lee – Principal, Prince Edward County Career and Technical Education Center

We are also excited to welcome back Mr. Jason Lee, who has been selected as the new Principal of the Prince Edward County Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center.

Mr. Lee currently serves as an Assistant Principal in Albemarle County Public Schools, where he leads initiatives in student engagement, attendance, staff development, budgeting, and CTE program expansion. His previous roles include Director of Safety, Operations, and Facilities for Charlottesville City Schools and Assistant Principal in Fluvanna County.

A graduate of Prince Edward County Public Schools, Mr. Lee returns with a strong commitment to innovation, safety, and preparing our students for career and college success. We are proud to welcome him back to lead the next generation of Eagles.

Ms. Mary Jane Cook – Assistant Principal, Prince Edward County High School

Joining Ms. Tibbs at PECHS is Ms. Mary Jane Cook, who will serve as an Assistant Principal.

Ms. Cook currently holds the position of Assistant Principal at Randolph-Henry High School, where she has led in instructional supervision, staff evaluation, special education coordination, and testing. Her contributions also include student behavior support, safety oversight, enrichment programming, and Project Graduation for SOL recovery.

Even more meaningful, Ms. Cook is returning to her rootsβ€”she taught English 12 at PECHS for eight years, building lasting connections with students and staff. We are excited to welcome Ms. Cook home and know she will be a tremendous asset to the team.

These three leaders bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and dedication to our schools. I want to thank the Prince Edward County School Board and Acting Superintendent Dr. Cox for their leadership and support in these selections.

Please join me in giving a warm welcome to Ms. Tibbs, Mr. Lee, and Ms. Cook as they begin their new roles this summer.

Sincerely,
Dr. Chip Jones
