The Virginia Track Coaches Association meet was recently held at Louisa County High School. The boys’ track team placed sixth out of sixteen teams, while the girls finished tenth.

Senior De’Alonzo Walker earned second place in the 300-meter hurdles, followed by Tre’Andeous Harvey in seventh. Sophomore Curtis Patterson took second in the 110-meter hurdles, with Harvey placing fifth in that event. Patterson and Harvey also finished second and third, respectively, in the triple jump. In the long jump, Patterson placed sixth and Harvey finished seventh.

Tyrone Hughes placed fifth in the discus. His shot put throw of 45 feet, 9 inches was a personal record and earned him sixth place. The boys’ 4x100 relay teamβ€”Duane Booker, Tre’Andeous Harvey, Curtis Patterson, and De’Alonzo Walkerβ€”finished sixth.

Kamani Watkins placed seventh in both the long jump and triple jump. Freshman Kyla Barksdale made the finals in the triple jump, finishing ninth. Alivia Rachels placed sixth in the shot put, and Jada Watkins placed eighth. Alivia also threw a personal record of 95 feet, 10 inches in the discus for fifth place.

Dashara Kimbrough ran a season-best 66.5 seconds in the 400 meters, placing eighth. Jayla Boyd placed sixth in the 100-meter dash. The girls’ 4x100 relay teamβ€”SheKeyah Williams, Kamani Watkins, Soriah Thompson, and Jayla Boyd finished fifth. Kimaya Killebrew placed eighth in the 300-meter hurdles.
