summer meals

FARMVILLE, Va. โ€” Prince Edward County Public Schools is expanding its summer feeding efforts to ensure that children throughout the county have access to nutritious meals while school is out of session.

Through the Summer Food Service Program, Prince Edward County Public Schools (PECPS) will offer free meals to all children ages 18 and under beginning June 8. In addition to traditional meal service at Prince Edward County Middle School, the division is introducing a home meal delivery option through partnerships with Amazon and No Kid Hungry.

The program is designed to address transportation barriers and provide greater access to healthy meals for children living in rural areas of Prince Edward County.

โ€œSummer should be a time for children to enjoy their break, not worry about where their next meal will come from,โ€ said Bruce Davis, Director of Child Nutrition for Prince Edward County Public Schools. โ€œWe are excited to offer both on-site meals and home delivery options to ensure every child in our community has access to nutritious breakfasts and lunches throughout the summer.โ€
