Prince Edward County Middle School welcomed new members into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) during an induction ceremony held on October 21, 2026. The event recognized students who demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

As part of the selection process, students were required to submit three faculty recommendation letters and write an essay, demonstrating their qualifications and commitment to the principles of NJHS.

Remarks were delivered by Dr. Chip Jones, Superintendent of Prince Edward County Public Schools; Ms. Shelly Clark-Reed, Prince Edward County Middle School Principal; and Mr. Wolf, NJHS Club Advisor.

The highlight of the ceremony was hearing from students as they reflected on the five pillars of the National Junior Honor Society and shared how they plan to uphold these values in their school and community. Student speakers included Aโ€™Dymond Baker, Kaelyn Fields, Daโ€™Nizjah Fowlkes, Eli Frederick, Matthew Hailey, Bryce Harris, Isaiah Locus, and Patrick McCabe.

Their remarks emphasized the importance of applying the principles of NJHS beyond the induction ceremony and demonstrating these qualities through everyday actions, service, and leadership.

Dr. Jones stated, โ€œI am incredibly proud of these students! NJHS membership is an honor and a responsibility. I am excited to see them put scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship into action and make a difference in their school and community. Our Eagles are leading the way!โ€

The National Junior Honor Society recognizes students who strive for excellence in academics while demonstrating the character and commitment necessary to make a positive impact on others. Membership represents both an achievement and a responsibility to continue growing as leaders and contributing members of the community.

Prince Edward County Public Schools congratulates its newest NJHS inductees and looks forward to seeing them put the five pillars into action throughout the school year.
