Recently, Ms. Tibbs, Mr. Lee, and Dr. Jones met with our seniors in small groups, and the conversations were powerful. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Listening to our students reminds us just how important student voice truly is. Here are a few themes they shared:

โœจ A desire for more engaging, hands-on learning and less lecture-based & screen instruction
๐ŸŽ“ More exposure to careers and opportunities to hear from professionals
๐Ÿค The importance of having trusted adults they can talk to
๐Ÿ‘• Understanding the dress code, with some feedback on headgear policies
๐Ÿšซ Recognition that vaping is a real concern
๐Ÿซ Interest in updated facilities over time
๐Ÿ“š An appreciation for structure, even if they donโ€™t always show it
๐Ÿฆ… A love for school spirit days and celebrating what it means to be an Eagle

We are grateful for their honesty, insight, and willingness to share. Their voices help guide our work as we continue striving to make our schools the best they can be for every student. #GreatThingsAreHappeningAtPECPS

Prince Edward County High School is proud to celebrate our latest round of Positive Office Referrals!
Over the past two weeks, students have been recognized for a variety of reasons that reflect the heart of our school community. Some were recognized by their teachers for showing strong academic improvement as we approached the end of the nine weeks, demonstrating hard work, perseverance, and growth. Others were recognized for helping organize new donations to our PECHS Clothes Closet and for showing what it means to be a good citizen through their service, kindness, and support of others.
We are so proud of each of these students for the many ways they are making a positive impact at PECHS. Keep up the great work, Eagles!

On February 26th, several students at the high school participated in the Y Street training. Y Street is a youth led volunteer initiative for high school students. They were trained as youth activists to help prevent tobacco use and promote healthy lifestyles within their community, across Virginia. They will be participating in 2 campaigns throughout the year: Share the Air and Rev Your Bev.
'Share the Air' is committed to creating 100% tobacco-free and e-cigarette free public outdoor space and 'Rev Your Bev' aims to improve health by increasing access to water in schools and promoting water as the #1 beverage to drink.
During the highly engaging training session, students learned how to stage their table set ups and collect peer surveys. They also learned about ways to get involved at the local and state level and potentially attend state-wide youth summits and become future trainers.
