Calendar Update: Monday, February 19th, 2024 (Presidents' Day) will be an inclement weather make-up day.

For Black History Month, the middle school selects an important African American to highlight each week. The morning news crew hosts a trivia contest and announces the winner live every morning. This week's Person of the Week is Dorothy Vaughan. Vaughan was a teacher in Farmville and later became a mathematician for NASA. You can learn more about her incredible journey and legacy in the book and film "Hidden Figures."

Don't forget, the Family Engagement Center has a variety of FREE books our Eagles can take home! Stop by to browse our shelves and discover what interests your Eagle!

Spring sports are right around the corner! Tryouts for high school spring sports start this Monday, February 19th after school. All students staying after must have a current VHSL sports physical on file.

Students enjoyed Valentine's activities today! The MS PTO hosted a carnation fundraiser, delivering them with personalized notes. Meanwhile, the HS encouraged staff and students to exchange notes of kindness. Additionally, the agricultural class created beautiful floral arrangements. Meanwhile, our #ittybittyeagles could be seen bringing in cards for their classmates.

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month. At the CTE, our Eagles have a variety of classes they can enroll in to explore their interests. For example, students in our Culinary Arts program provide food for staff as part of the Eagle Cafe. They compete in competitions and can earn recognized credentials.

Thank you, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Kappa Rho Omega Chapter, for your generous donation of coats and winter accessories.

Parent-Teacher Conferences were held last week. Don't forget you can check your Eagle's grades and attendance using the Parent Portal. Don't have access? Contact your Eagle's school to get set up. #attendancemattersVA
Thank you to our amazing community partners who show up monthly to help unpack and distribute food during our Feed More Food Market. Each month, over 150 Eagle families receive food from this free program. We appreciate our volunteers! #KindnessWeek
