This week, our current and upcoming cosmetology students had the pleasure of welcoming Isaac Cleaton from Isaac Classic Signature Salon as a guest speaker. He shared his experience with state board, his journey in the beauty industry, and the hard work and determination it took to build his career.
The students were highly engaged and really connected with his message. They enjoyed hearing his personal experiences, viewing examples of his work before opening his salon, and receiving advice about professionalism, motivation, and perseverance within the industry.
Mr. Cleaton provided students with motivational goodie bags that included inspirational quotes inside capsules, which students read aloud together. It was a great way to encourage and inspire students as we close out the school year on a positive note.

PECHS HVAC System Update: The current system has been experiencing issues and is at the end of its life cycle. An updated chiller unit is scheduled to be delivered within the next few weeks, and installation will begin shortly after delivery. Unfortunately, installation of an updated HVAC system during the school year is almost impossible due to the scope of the work involved.
In the meantime, our maintenance team is continuously monitoring the system, resetting it when it trips out, and adjusting settings to help keep it running overnight so it can be checked again early each morning. Our goal is to have the system fully operational by the start of the new school year. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. - Dr. Jones, Superintendent

Our 5th graders recently took a hands-on trip to Blackstone's Virginia Techโs Ag Day, where they traded their desks for a day of agricultural discovery! The highlight for many was becoming bakers for the dayโnot only learning the science behind baking bread but also getting to take home all the supplies to try it again.
The adventure continued with a rotation of interactive stations:
"Apple Earth": A visual demonstration showing just how little of our planet's land is actually usable for farming.
DNA Extraction: Students felt like real scientists as they extracted DNA from strawberries.
Oobleck Lab: A messy, fun exploration of non-Newtonian fluids to master the states of matter.
Cell Models: Creative building of animal cells to visualize the building blocks of life.
After a sunny picnic lunch on the beautiful property, our students headed home with full stomachs and even fuller minds. It was a fantastic day of learning that brought science and agriculture to life!
