
Lunch Spotlight: Check out the Chef Salad and Southwest Chicken Salad! They are made with locally grown fresh greens from Greenswell Growers in Powhatan. The Southwest Chicken Salad includes black beans, roasted corn and jalapenos, avocado, diced tomatoes, and marinated chicken bites. As the local growing season begins, we will start getting cucumbers, tomatoes, and other fresh vegetables to serve each day. #TrayTuesday #VAFarm2School

To promote daily attendance and address chronic absenteeism, students at the middle school participate in attendance wars. Recently, 5th-grade students were treated to a pizza party to celebrate winning the competition. #SchoolEveryDay #AttendanceMattersVA



The family of Todd Brandon Schinabeck ('19) has established an annual scholarship at PECHS in his honor. The scholarship supports students entering a Power Line Worker Training Program or other Trade/Vocational School post-graduation. Todd, a graduate of SVCC's Power Line Worker Training Program, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in October 2021. Applications can be picked up in the school counseling office, with a deadline of March 29, 2024.


The PECMS Boys Basketball team was recognized during the MS sports banquet. They had an amazing season that concluded with a second Southside Middle School Conference Basketball championship! Congratulations to the coaches, players, cheerleaders, and the amazing fans!

It's National Reading Month! Today, our elementary Eagles wore hats to celebrate Dr. Seuss Week. Tuesday's book is 'Fox in Socks,' and the theme is crazy socks. #EverybodyReadsVA

Track & Field State Meet Day One: Makayla Nelson won the State Championship in the long jump and placed sixth in the high jump. Kamani Watkins placed eighth in the long jump, while Aliyah Rachels tied for eighth. Jamarion Crawley and Makayla made the finals in the 55-meter dash.

During the Black History Month program, PECHS students showcased skits, spoken word, music, and dance performances while highlighting the contributions of African Americans to our history with historical facts.











Announcement for 2/28/24: All after-school activities have been canceled due to the possibility of severe weather.


The following Eagles have earned their spots in the state tournament! Makayla Nelson has qualified for the long jump, triple jump, high jump, 55-meter race, and the 4 by 200 relay. Sylvia Hemmer will be competing in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter races. Aliyah Rachels will showcase her skills in the high jump, triple jump, and 55-meter hurdles. Kamani Watkins will participate in the long jump, triple jump, and the 4 by 200 relay. Shanavia Jones and Shekeyah Williams have secured their positions in the 4 by 200 relay. Jamarion Crawley is a versatile contender in the 55-meter, 300-meter, long jump, and triple jump. The state meet is scheduled to take place at Liberty University on February 28 and 29.


Thank you, Lowe's of Farmville! Lowe's donated two Gorilla Carts to PECHS Career and Technical Center. Ms. Talbott is excited to use these carts in her agricultural classes.


As part of Mr. Beddow's Robotics class, students formed teams and built robots to navigate obstacles and solve problems during class competitions. #CTEMONTH







PECES recently hosted a program to celebrate Black History Month. During the program, students celebrated the contributions of African Americans to our diverse history. Additionally, some staff members dressed in cultural attire.
